One of the fundamental metatheory assumptions is, that everything is in motion and, in this way, informs or expresses itself. The research direction which seeks to formulate a theory of movement is called kinaesthesia (www.kinaestetik.de) and occupies itself with the perception of (physical) movement in the context of the complete personality. Even children can (without any biology lesson) recognise, for example, that a dog is not well, by the way it walks (“Look, that doggy, ouch, ouch!”). Our perception is designed to give us orientation in living together with other living creatures. From an evolutionary, technical viewpoint this gives us a survival advantage. This study of kinaesthesia connections is theoretically and practically indispensable for counselling, but has recently fallen somewhat out of favour.
