Management Aspects of Distance

Organisations are dependent upon things being decided. Such decisions must take into consideration all sense dimensions: functional, social and temporal aspects. Each decision carries disadvantages with it for some people (possibly somewhere else or in the future). Distance competence on the part of the decision-maker helps to avoid that the affected who are at a distance must pay the price for an erroneous consideration of the affected who are in close proximity. To say ‘no’ to people sitting opposite you, with whom you feel close, is not simple. The distance need enables the position “I say no, because I feel close to you!”. This sentence is challenging for some people, although it only expresses that boundaries are a true part of bonding. Without ‘distance’ ability, management becomes cliquey and generates unsuitable decisions.
