Leadership Aspects of Needs
All needs, i.e. the necessity for their regulation, have a direct relationship to fundamental tasks of leadership, on the side of the leader as well as on the side of the employee. How the needs of psychological systems are processed dictates what flows into the communication of the organisation, as well as into the team and also what remains unconscious, not perceived, not expressed, inhibited, what is experienced diffusely and what is ignored.
Therefore, all employees and leaders shape, by means of the way they handle needs, what opportunities there are of raising issues in meetings, which interests are represented in what manner, what triggers conflicts and how they are dealt with. Assumed fact-based decisions in teams and organisations are highly dependent upon the psychological dynamics of the participating people. Team dynamics are very substantially driven by the needs of the team members and creates inevitable tensions with organisational expectations.
