Distance Incompetence and Leadership

Those who, as leaders, cannot respond to the distance need of their employees, find themselves with many disadvantages: the difficulty of saying ‘no’ leads to weakness in decision-making and to the tendency of always agreeing with the last person one has spoken to. It also leads to ‘moving targets’, to a lack of commitment to goals and to accepting unrealistic goals for oneself. Generally – goals are not so popular with people who have distance problems, because one has to commit oneself and demand something from others. They find it difficult to make clear statements and create transparency and fairness. In fact, they are easily manipulable and tend to fall for intrigues and political scheming. If the loss of their own creative potential is added, then innovation impulses are lacking and poor routines and rigidity are created.
